Applying for a callsign

The day has finally come to get a call sign from Ofcom.

The RSBG has posted out my certificate with my candidate number (covered in this photo) ready for me to log onto the Ofcom website and apply for my callsign.

Next you have over the Ofcom portal hosted on the following ULR: https://ofcom.force.com and go through the process, you can either select the next callsign on the list or try your luck at creating your own.

I decided to try for M7IBW and it was available, within about 10 minutes I had received an email from Ofcom with two documents a “Licence Document” and “Licence Issued Notification” and as far a paperwork is concerned that is it, I am now able to transmit as well as receive, an incredibly quick and efficient process.

So I am now ready to see what comes next, perhaps starting from FT8 when I have a capability to transmit, so let the adventure begin.
